    Verdict

A typically poor contest where Victorian Cape can take advantage of first time blinkers to score from Kintyre Lass and Baby Jack. The selection went well enough last time in a similar Newmarket contest and in the context of this race that was pretty good form. Undoubtedly it pays to tread carefully where official ratings are concerned in sellers, but the colt is rated towards the top end of this lot, has shown a modicum of ability and the application of headgear may be just what he needs to get him home in front. Kintyre Lass has been an in-and-out performer so far, but significantly her best efforts have come when tried over 7f. She gets that today, plus the firm ground she relishes and a drop in class, so with first-time blinkers also applied she is very much respected. Baby Jack has to give weight to that pair but tried in a seller for the first time, he too should appreciate taking on moderate opponents and this trip should be able to elicit improvement, so he won't be far away. Shipboard Romance has bee n knocking on the door in this grade just lately and went close when tried at this trip last time, so we expect her to go very well, but Victorian Cape is the tentative selection.
