Verdict

Glendermot has yet to win under Rules but has gone close on a couple of occasions when there is plenty of give in the ground, including last time at Market Rasen. Donald McCain saddled last year’s winner and there is reason to believe that MAHLER LAD can improve on what he’s shown so far. He probably wasn’t helped by racing wide at Carlisle last time and his point-to-point victory came on ground similar to today’s. Fuhgeddaboudit’s best form is on quicker surfaces while Smart Catch has been beaten in sellers over hurdles since last running over fences. Musical Wedge is clearly not the force of old.
