In depth

Verdict

Fyodor is taken to land the finale, with Dolce Piccata, Baylaw Star and Hilites all to be considered as well. This is a bit of a tricky getting-out stakes in which Hughie Morrison, successful last year with Baltic King, saddles Little Ridge. He would have been a stronger candidate in our eyes if lining up with a run under his belt, but as he does not, Fyodor gets the vote. The Willie Haggas inmate was described as still immature when opening his account at Pontefract last August, and although well down the field on his return at Thirsk 17 days ago, must surely have more to come. He lined up at the Yorkshire track on only a pound higher mark than when just touched off in a Musselburgh nursery on his final start last term, and can improve a few pounds. He gets a sporting vote over Dolce Piccata who showed improved form when fourth to Green Manalishi at Windsor just over a fortnight ago. She will be popular choice along with Baylaw Star who was third in a similar contest at Hamilton. Hilites bombed out badly at Newbury but she is much better than that, and is another to consider, but without being too confident, Fyodor is our final pick at Leicester.
