In depth

Verdict

Carriganog looked a smart prospect in early starts over fences but hasn't really progressed though he still has time on his side. Haddington Road landed a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick and though no match for Bridgets Pet on his chasing debut it wasn't a bad effort and there should be more to come. Officer Cadet was struggling when falling in that latter event and this is tougher with As De Ferbet likely to be strongly fancied and GUITAR PETE looking a potentially useful chaser. The former has already had plenty of experience over fences and though beaten twice since arriving from France he's expected to leave that form well behind. The selection, a dual Grade 1 winner over timber, makes his debut over bigger obstacles but is only a five-year-old like his main rival and he could well turn out to be something special.
