Verdict

MOUNT ATHOS beat a subsequent dual winner by five lengths over track and trip on his handicap debut. He has a hike in the weights to contend with on his reappearance but still has plenty of scope for further progress. Vafortino was successful at Goodwood last autumn while Rhythm Master is preferred to First Folio and Documenting of the others returning from absences. Dubai Station won over 6f at Wolverhampton recently though has yet to race over this far while Spirit Of Nguru has returned a beaten favourite the last twice.
