Major Valentine has been brilliantly placed by John O'Shea to win 14 races including three around here. He won four times at Chepstow this summer and though mid-division in the Ayr Silver Cup last time this is a drop in class. Eljaddaaf has won five times on the track, the latest last November from a 6lb higher mark, while Firelight scored here on his only all-weather start in July last year and has competed at a higher level than this subsequently. Drummond Warrior completed a Windsor double in his first two runs and was then beaten a neck at Newmarket before finishing tailed off at Doncaster. He obviously wasn't right in that latter event and would be a threat if bouncing back. POLYBIUS has won three out of four around here and would have finished closer at Newcastle last time if getting the run of the race so gets the vote in the hope of a return to the form he showed last year at this time.
