In depth

Verdict

Doubnov has been disappointing in the main since coming to the UK and might be best left alone again in this one mile four furlong handicap and while Chalice Welcome has been on top form better value might be a play on ESEEJ. A fading second off this mark last time the pick still showed that he retains all the ability that saw him win a similar race when two pounds worse off last season. Granted he seems to save his best for the slower surfaces at Wolverhampton and Southwell but off this mark he looks worth chancing again. Chalice Welcome won back to back races before just missing out off this revised mark last time. Neil King's runner only ever does just enough and should run his race once more. Doubnov arrived in the UK with the weight of expectation on his shoulders after some high profile wins in Dubai. So far though the Ian Williams trained runner has only scored in a seller and although he looked much better in these ranks last time we would want to see more again before getting involved. Quinsman also is worthy of a mention with two wins in his last three runs but in a race where not much divides the field we'll take a chance on the potentially well-weighted Eseej.
