Scottish River can be hard to predict but appears to have leading claims in this company, while Graft, King Gabriel and Milk And Sultana are others to bear in mind. Milk And Sultana is a previous course winner that will be suited by today's trip. He does need to pick up his game though and, as he is never an easy one to predict, he is for the brave only. King Gabriel has not stood much racing in recent times but has claims at this level. He is one to carefully monitor in the betting. Graft won a similar race here on the turf course several years ago and knows what to do when his mind is on the job. The gelding has dropped to a fair mark and a bold run can be expected from him. However, Scottish River just gets the nod on this occasion. The Mark Usher-trained gelding can give his supporters a hard time by fluffing the start. But he has already proved that can still deliver the sucker punch with a success this month and it seems folly to desert him while he is holding his form. His claims are also enhanced by the weakness of today's opponents.
