        Verdict

        High-class hurdler VERDANA BLUE (NAP) won the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle at this venue on Boxing Day but had gone close over track and trip in Listed company on the Flat before that. This should prove a good prep for next month’s tilt at Cheltenham in the Champion Hurdle and Nicky Henderson’s charge is preferred to stablemate and Lingfield novice winner Twist. Gumball is heading for the County Hurdle at Cheltenham and debuts under this code. He should have the measure of another hurdler in Et Moi Alors while Heart Of Soul has his first outing since going close in a tough handicap at Chester last summer and makes most appeal of the remainder.
