In depth

Verdict

A market watch is essential in this kind of lowly bumper with so little form to go on, but we'll tentatively suggest KING OF LEON in preference to Phidippides and General Miller. King of Leon won a better bumper than this last time out, and looked pretty stylish. He's giving weight away all round, but there's going to have to be a special newcomer to beat him. Paul Nicholl's runner could be absolutely anything, but he's got a good record in this sort of race, and can get them winning on debut. General Miller is another debutant, who's been pulled out of a race at Ludlow to come here. Again, Nicky Henderson knows the time of day with his bumpers, and this 30 thousand Guineas purchase could be good enough. Support, or lack of, in the market for any of them should be noted, but we're happy to suggest as the likely winner, King of Leon.
