Verdict

Jack Hogan’s claim is a plus for veteran Ballyhome. Scarpia had Lock's Corner behind when third to Itchy Feet at Huntingdon and Mark Of Gold has won twice this season, though fell in the early stages here six weeks ago. Will Carver has been off the track for a long time but is a course and distance winner and fitness is rarely an issue for one from his yard. He is is much respected as is northern raider Vintage Fizz while Catterick maiden winner Don Hollow is the least exposed of these. IVALDI was held up to get the trip at Ascot last week and never looked like winning. He remains something of enigma but is probably well treated on a mark of 124 and this test will be more to his liking – he makes more appeal than stablemate Halo Des Obeaux.
