Gold Ring looks to have been found a perfect opportunity to get off the mark at the expense of Greenwich Meantime and Muraqeb. Toby Balding's charge finished fourth after a troubled preparation at Ascot and while he is a long standing maiden - he has been up against some decent opposition and this is by far his easiest task to date. Greenwich Meantime finished second to Electrique in a York maiden and while York maidens invariably throw up theiir share of winners, that winner was rated 75 and on the official figures, Greenwich Meantime would need to find a couple of pounds to trouble our selection. Feel Good Factor finished fourth in the very race. He has a pedigree to die for and as that last race followed a long absence, there is every reason to suspect that he is better than that bare form suggests. Muraqeb finished well behind and connections will be praying that headgear works the oracle on this occasion. The remainder make little appeal. Having considered the alternatives, we will stick with Gold Ring to reward the patience of Toby Balding in the finale.
