Verdict

Although Turgeonev's preparations for this race were interrupted when he unseated at this track on his penultimate start he had previously shown himself a potential champion with losing runs in handicaps under huge weights. His trainer is in good form and he should go well back at his favourite distance. Wahiba Sands will have his supporters after having proved himself a genuine performer in the past. However he may prefer further. Eskleybrook can not be ruled out having proved himself very smart on his last appearance. Though his change of stable has done him well he seems to prefer a softer surface. Demasta should not be discounted and has shown himself an useful athlete on a firm surface and he will be suited by this trip.
