MAPUTO will probably need to improve again to extend his unbeaten record but looks capable of doing so. He's clearly at home on good ground and has plenty of speed, which is essential on an easy track like this. San Benedeto beat a useful sort at Stratford in May and is still a four-year-old so open to further progress. Midnight Shot won twice by wide margins in May and could be anything as he's bred for jumping. He makes more appeal than Regulation, easily beaten by the selection on worse terms at Huntingdon though obviously improved when easily landing a handicap at Wincanton on Friday. Paddy The Deejay is also held but Swansea Mile ran well in a Listed handicap at Market Rasen on his first start for Dan Skelton.
Swansea Mile (IRE) 8-1 (10-6) Held up in rear, clipped heels and stumbled badly after 3 out, headway before next, switched right before last, pressing for 2nd flat, stayed on, 3rd of 9, 2 1/4l behind Cloonacool (10-4) at Market Rasen 2m 1f hcp lst (1) gd in Sep.
Maputo 2-11fav (11-10) Made all, joined 2 out, shaken up flat, ran on, readily, won at Huntingdon 2m (4) gd in Oct beating Regulation (11-10) by 1 3/4l, 4 ran.
Midnight Shot 3-10fav (11-5) Made all, clear after 2 out, easily, won at Southwell 2m (4) gd in May beating Age Of Discovery (10-8) by 20l, 6 ran.
San Benedeto (FR) 10-11fav (11-1) Took keen hold, made all, ridden and pressed when better jump than rival last, stayed on well, won at Stratford 2m (4) gd in May beating Set The Trend (11-12) by 2l, 11 ran.
Paddy The Deejay (IRE) 9-1 (11-1) Held up in rear, headway approaching 3 out, soon chasing leaders, challenging when hampered 2 out, every chance before last, no extra flat, 2nd of 7, 8l behind Special Agent (11-1) at Ascot 2m 3f mdn (4) gs in Mar.
Regulation (IRE) 9-4fav (11-8) Mid-division, headway 3 out, led 2 out, clear when went left last, ran on well, easily, won at Wincanton 1m 7f hcp (3) gf in Oct beating Laser Blazer (11-8) by 10l, 8 ran.
