Chicane (IRE) showed he can handle this ground when running an eye-catching race on his debut at Doncaster last back-end, finishing fourth in a big field over 6f. There is little doubt that he will appreciate this extra furlong, and he gets a tentative vote in a race where there are plenty of imponderables. Three of the newcomers all make some appeal, particularly Mutamarkiz, who is by Rainbow Quest out of a mare who won over sprint distances. L'Ouest was placed on soft ground last season, but beaten a long way and it would come as a surprise if there were not one or two too good here.
