      Verdict

      Several have been winning over 7f including London Calling, who scored here last month but previous attempts over today’s trip were unsuccessful. Red Jasper also won over a shorter distance at Newcastle but in a lower grade than this and BOLD SUITOR (NAP) is preferred. The latter made a winning start in handicaps at Newcastle recently and given Ed Walker’s colt scored with plenty to spare, he may well defy a 6lb rise in this. The selection is also less exposed than Lyricist Voice, whose victory came over a mile at Newcastle and is also preferred to Can't Stop Now, a disappointing favourite here in November and having his first start after wind surgery.

      Bold Suitor 15-8fav (9-4) Tracked leaders, went 2nd 2f out, led and edged right inside final furlong, kept on well, won at Newcastle 7f hcp (5) pol in Jan beating Secret Smile (9-6) by 1 1/4l, 7 ran.

      Red Jasper 11-4fav (9-13) Missed break, behind, driven and headway on inside when not clear run over 1f out and again inside final 100 yards, unable to challenge, 8th of 11, 2 1/4l behind Inductive (8-13) at Wolverhampton 7f hcp (6) pol in Feb.
