Young Patriarch and La Professoressa probably have the best form among those to have raced previously over hurdles but this may be best left to the newcomers with Etendard Indien preferred to Reservoir. The last mentioned had some respectable form in middle distance handicaps on the flat last season when with William Haggas and, now with Philip Hobbs, is just the type to make the grade over hurdles. Nick Littmoden has done well with his small team of hurdlers this winter so Garrigon has to be respected along with Emma Lavelle's Penny Stall, who was a thorough stayer on the level with John Dunlop and should improve on what she showed first time out over hurdles. La Professoressa is becoming exposed and of more interest may be Charlie Mann's Young Patriarch, who got rather bogged down in the mud at Plumpton last month. Etendard Indien was a Group 3 winner on the flat in France and now that Nicky Henderson's stable is among the winners again there should be few worries about the colt's readiness for his first start over hurdles. A potentially smart recruit, Etendard Indien is hard to oppose.
