      Verdict

      NEW YEAR'S NIGHT finished eight lengths clear of a subsequent winner when runner-up here in September. Charlie Appleby's charge can open his account in this. Sighora has not raced since disappointing at Chester in May but had ran well at Newmarket before that and Squire looks a bigger threat dropping back in trip. My Red Devil ran well until fading in the closing stages at Lingfield on last year's debut but is having her first start since.
