keen in rear, ridden over 2f out, stayed on, never troubled leaders
made all, stayed on gamely, driven out
held up in touch, ridden over 2f out, one pace
slowly into stride, always towards rear
held up in touch, ridden and effort over 1f out, kept on final furlong
chased winner, ridden 2f out, soon weakened
tracked leaders, switched left and effort 2f out, hung left from 1f out, kept on
tracked leaders, ridden well over 1f out, kept on same pace
Peace has been working well enough on the gallops to account for the fitter Beneventa and Henry Cecil's newcomer Total Devotion. Peace was unlucky not to make a winning debut at Windsor last October when carried wide in what developed into a three-way finish. The ground was a bit on the soft side and she will be more at home under the prevailing faster conditions tonight. Related to Entrepeneur on the dam's side, she can go on to greater success this season. Her main rival is Beneventa who made an encouraging debut at Salisbury when running into a Godolphin hotpot. Second best that day, she will relish the extra two furlongs and will play her part in proceedings. Total Devotion, a daughter of Desert Prince, has been the subject of really good reports from the Limekilns and will know her job. Whatever she does here, she can make up into a nice middle-distance filly. For the winner though, we return to Peace.
