Peter Monteith's Alam was a comfortable winner on his return to hurdling at Carlisle earlier this month and is taken to defy the 13lb rise since at the main expense of stablemate Culcabock and Rosalyons. The last mentioned has been raised 11lbs for his win over course and distance earlier this month but that looked a weaker contest than today's and he looks worth taking on. Tobesure looked in need of the run on his reappearance behind Town Crier here last time and may need another couple of outings to put him spot on. Chris Grant's Roobihoo won well enough on his final start of last term but faces no easy task on his reappearance off an 8lb higher mark so a bigger threat may come from Al Mabrook although the Nicky Richards-trained gelding may be a shade high in the weights now. The vote then goes to Alam. Peter Monteith's gelding could not have been more impressive at Carlisle last time and is taken to follow up.
