Mr Jack Daniels looks likely to run up a sequence now that the ground is faster and he can make it a hat-trick here at the main expense of Lindseyfield Lodge and Cast Iron Casey. The selection won a maiden hurdle over further than this at Sedgefield a couple of starts ago and the drop back to this sort of trip proved no barrier to success last time out at Perth. The Ferdy Murphy-trained gelding was decent on the flat and in what is a weak race he can use that speed to good effect and notch up another win. Peter Monteith has trained the winner of this race a couple of times in recent seasons, and so Cast Iron Casey merits some respect. He was good enough to win a Wetherby bumper on debut, but has not shown too much since and you'd be hard pressed to oppose the favourite with him today. Lindseyfield Lodge won a selling handicap hurdle at Hexham last time on good to firm and it is the ground that is the key to his chance again. He can go well without winning here. Asrar should enjoy conditions and is bred to go well at this trip, so watch for any market support, but Mr Jack Daniels has a great opportunity to complete a hat-trick here.
