In depth

Verdict

Monsieur can be expected to cope with his penalty and is fancied to get the better of Maneki Neko and Nerome. The booking of Graham Lee is a positive sign for Nerone, as the Irishman has been extremely profitable to follow when riding for the Peter Montieth yard. The gelding does need to improve on his two previous starts this season though and he may be a touch too risky for win only purposes. Maneki Neko has experience of the track and has run with consistency in his six previous starts over timber. Edwin Tuer's runners can never be dismissed in races such as this and it will be interesting to monitor the betting where he is concerned. However, Monsieur beat a useful field at Wetherby last week and, as he appears to have stacks more improvement to come, he is expected to brush aside his burden at the weights this afternoon.
