In depth

Verdict

On A Promise found one too good over 2m4f at Doncaster last time but has won over a longer trip over hurdles and can figure again. EMPIRE DE MAULDE scored over these fences when last in action in December and is only 2lb higher today despite having a subsequent winner back in third. He’s also undergone wind surgery since and James Ewart’s charge gets the vote. Almazhar Garde faced a tougher task at Cheltenham last month having won here in November while Mount Mews unseated at Carlisle on his chasing bow.
