Verdict
The Miner may be the one in a trappy affair, with Flaming Heck, Leopard Spot and Apadi others to consider. None of these are in the best of form at present and it is with no great confidence that The Miner is selected to oblige. The six-year-old did at least take on much better rivals than this at the last meeting here, finishing a well beaten fourth behind the useful Gingerbread House. That was over a much longer trip, and back over today's distance he should fare better against these rivals. Flaming Heck has completed the course on each of his three starts over fences but is only moderate, and Leopard Spot, a long-standing maiden, was pulled up at Musselburgh. Apadi fell at the seventh when racing much too keenly, while Native Legend needed the run when pulled up at Hexham but will surely find this trip too short. Bets are best kept to a minimum, with The Miner saddled with the vote.
