A tight left-handed track and genuinely good ground bring out the best in HISTOIRE DE MOEURS and Peter Bowen's charge gets our vote ahead of Percussionist, King Daniel and Quicuyo. Peter Bowen traditionally has his hurdlers in good form in September but he had a quiet month and will be hoping for a better October. The selection has a tongue-tie on for the first time today but should be more at home on this better ground. Her best runs have come on left-handed tracks and the mare may prove hard to beat. There are several feasible opponents, perhaps most notably Tranos who has been given a break since his last run but he drops in class today and must be considered a major player with the ground to suit. Percussionist is a talented individual and looks to have a good season ahead of him, whilst Cast Iron Casey and Quicuyo give Peter Monteith a strong hand at a track where he has had plenty of success in the past. Regent's Secret, Border Tale and Day To Remember are all capable on their day, whilst King Daniel is well-treated compared to his rating over fences. Front Rank represents last years winner Dianne Sayer and has the cheek-pieces back on today (never won in them), but we prefer the claims of Histoire De Moeurs.
