An evenly matched field will go to post, so a far from confident choice goes to Mr Lear, who edges preference over Gone Too Far and Mount Vettore. The last named was hard to predict on the Flat and rarely put in two similar performances. Still he does have the ability to figure when he wants to and will be a big threat if the rains hold off. Gone Too Far has paid his way in this sphere and is in good heart at present. He will not mind the ground and should again run a bold race. However, top weight does not make his task easy and he needs everything to drop just right today. Big Wheel goes well here and is worth noting in the betting. However, Mr Lear just edges the vote on this occasion. John Quinn's charge is fit from the racing on the level and is versatile regarding his best ground. The six-year-old ran a blinder at Bangor last month and a repeat of that effort would be good enough to see him take the spoils here
