In depth

Verdict

Translucid can add to his tally over fences, with Polish Cloud, Island Stream and Musical Stage the trio to give him something to think about. The latter in fact comes from the stable that sent out Duke Of Buckingham to land the spoils 12 months ago, so the five-year-old should not be underestimated on this, his chase debut. However, his hurdles form was inferior to that of Translucid who should once again take the beating after opening his account over the bigger obstacles at Towcester last month. That was the gelding's fourth outing over fences, and the win came as no surprise after his earlier efforts against the likes of Thisthatandtother at Sandown. Therefore this task should be just as easy as his latest, and we take him to beat the other penalised runner Polish Cloud. Tom George's charge looked the part when scoring on his chase debut at Newton Abbot, jumping well in the main, but connections probably groaned when they saw Translucid in the entries. Island Stream will find the ground a bit fast for his introduction to chasing, and he and the rest are up against it in the shape of Translucid who should stamp his class against this field.
