made all, clear after 3 out, eased flat
close up in 3rd when hampered and fell 4th
tracked winner, faltered 4th, ridden when not fluent 3 out, soon beaten
Only three declared runners in this but all have a chance of sorts. Moabit did well over hurdles last summer prior to being pulled up at Perth in August after being hampered. A switch to fences is understandable given his rating over the smaller obstacles but he’s Flat bred so may be best watched today after a lay-off. KAYF BLANCO was fourth on his fencing bow at Uttoxeter in the autumn in what turned out to be a very hot race. He was second over hurdles at Stratford earlier this month and is fancied to get the better of the penalised Cobra De Mai, who built on a bloodless victory at Warwick at the start of the month by winning over timber at Worcester but would not be in the same class as his two rivals over hurdles.
Cobra De Mai (FR) 5-6fav (11-11) Led until 1st, tracked leader, led again 2 out, jumped left last, driven clear, won at Worcester 2m hcp (4) gf in May beating Mr Kit Cat (11-12) by 3 1/2l, 5 ran.
Kayf Blanco 4-1 (11-12) Held up in 5th, headway 3 out, not fluent 2 out, not clear run on home turn, left 2nd last, no impression on winner, 2nd of 7, 7l behind Free Stone Hill (10-2) at Stratford 2m hcp (3) gd in May.
Moabit (GER) 2-1fav (11-11) Held up in rear, hampered 5th, weakened after 3 out, pulled up before last, at Perth 2m hcp (2) gd in Aug.
