In depth

Verdict

Blue Americo was quietly fancied before his last outing at Cheltenham and he can gain compensation at the expense of Mister Arjay, Mylo and Earlsfield Raider. Blue Americo's form figures are hardly inspiring but he had no chance at Cheltenham when involved in an awful looking incident and if he has not sustained any physical problem from that, he should be still well enough treated to take a hand in this race. Today's ground should bring out the best in Mister Arjay and with Dobbin booked, the in-form Brian Ellison will come here with a fair degree of confidence. Mylo looks on the upgrade but the stable woes are a worry. Earlsfield Raider looks unexposed over hurdles in an attempt to protect his mark and should have come on for a recent flat-spin. Rifleman has faced some difficult tasks in novice company and any support on handicap debut would be interesting. A hard race in which Blue Americo has a chance to justify his lofty home reputation.
