In depth

Verdict

Prince De Bersy is taken to come out on top over Mr Wiseguy, Croon, Ouragan De Prairie and Eau De Vie. The Pipe stable will be confident of collecting here surely with Prince De Bersy who has won two of his last three starts. The latest of those was at Uttoxeter last month when he benefited from an enterprising ride by Tom Scudamore who kicked on down the far side and kept his mount galloping all the way to the line. With trip and ground to suit, he looks all set to defy a penalty. The other penalised runner Mr Wiseguy had his limitations exposed at Bangor last time, having won on soft ground at Uttoxeter earlier. Even so, he should be there or thereabouts in this contest. Croon was fancied here on his return to hurdles, but found little when let down, while Ouragan De Prairie is best watched on his return from a break. Eau De Vie has been busy in the paddocks, but takes time out to make her debut at the age of nine. She is related to the stable's useful chaser Colonel Frank, and may be one to note later in the season, but for now Prince De Bersy is the one to beat.
