Alexander Oats is 3lb out of the handicap but Harry Challoner's claim takes care of that. He's only won once in 18 starts over fences but couldn't possibly get any lower in the weights and must have some sort of chance of doubling his tally. Forestside has won three times over hurdles but never over fences in 21 starts though he's another who has dropped to his lowest ever mark, which isn't surprising given his recent form. Baileys Concerto hasn't had much racing but has shown a bit of promise and that may be enough in a race of this quality though INDIGO ISLAND looks the one to be on. The locally trained five-year-old has only had two runs over fences and has run well enough in both recent starts to be handed the vote. Millers Reef's only success over fences came on very fast ground and he won't have those conditions today.
