A competitive contest gets proceedings underway and many would have chances on their best form but the principals look to be Blast The Past, Mariday and Tullyhappy Lad and the vote is given to Blast The Past. The selection hails from the in-form Tim Walford yard and won in good style a couple of runs ago before unshipping his rider last time out. He remains on a fair mark and under conditions that suit he looks a value bet. Mariday rates the main danger on his latest fourth behind Mr Ex but he has looked a short runner in the past and he is taken on with this in mind. Tullyhappy Lad was a fair third behind Quarrelsome Queen and is another with place claims but all his best form is on a fast surface so he would not want much rain. Malton has the ability to go close but he is another that would not want any softening in the ground while Hawkwell looks vulnerable under top weight, while Baby Sister is another that could go well at a price. In a race where few can be ruled out, for the winner we return to Blast The Past.
