In depth

Verdict

Cudgel has won three times over hurdles around here but was beaten a long way into second over fences at Sedgefield last time and has only been dropped 2lb. Frankie Baby has shown the occasional glimmer of ability over hurdles and makes his chasing debut but DON HERBAGER (NAP) looks the one to beat. Venetia Williams' charge was gaining his second victory in three starts at Leicester a couple of weeks ago despite meeting trouble in-running and finding the 2m6f trip too short. King Of Fashion dropped to his lowest ever mark at Ayr where he was only beaten a neck but has gone up 6lb while Real Armani has had wind surgery since a poor effort at Cartmel. Speak Of The Devil is on the same mark as when scoring on good going here in October.
