HURRICANE RITA showed much-improved form when dropped in distance at Ayr last week. She drops back another half-mile here and has a penalty but this is a stiff track when the going is heavy and she’s hard to oppose. My Little Cracker won the mares’ novice race on this card 12 months ago but she’s gone back up in the weights again since her latest second at Musselburgh. Sun Odyssey has an absence to overcome and the others make even less appeal on recent form.
My Little Cracker (IRE) 7-2 (11-11) Prominent on outside, led approaching 3 out, headed narrowly next, soon ridden, kept on and every chance from last, held towards finish, 2nd of 7, 1l behind Alizee De Janeiro (11-9) at Musselburgh 2m 3f hcp (4) gd in Mar.
Hurricane Rita (FR) 15-2 (10-7) Led until narrowly headed 4th, in front again 8th, made rest, awkward 2 out, in command approaching the last, ridden and kept on well to go clear run-in, won at Ayr 2m 4f hcp (4) hvy in Mar beating Cruachan (10-11) by 7l, 7 ran.
Bahrikate 150-1 (10-0) Always behind, ridden before 3 out, weakened from next, tailed off, 9th of 11, dist behind Dear Sire (11-2) at Musselburgh 2m 3f mdn (5) gd in Mar.
Sun Odyssey 66-1 (10-2) Tracked leaders, lost place 2nd, not fluent 6th, lost touch next, well behind 8th, 5th of 8, dist behind Bellaney Knight (10-12) at Cartmel 2m 6f (4) gs in Jul.
