Sweet Auburn may prove up to the task against Vidi Caesar, Shays Lane and York Rite in this amateur rider's event. Sweet Auburn kept on well when headed at Sedgefield last time and although yet to win in 21 starts, seems to save his best efforts for the bigger obstacles. He is better treated now than at the start of the year and should be involved at least. A slight mistake at the last did not help Vidi Caesar's cause at Huntingdon but he too remains better treated than of late and seems to be running into form. Shays Lane is a Hexham specialist, all three victories coming over fences here, and he obliged in first-time blinkers last time. He remains well handicapped but might just need this after a break since June. York Rite is lightly raced over fences and has a bit more scope than most of these, so merits a mention as well, but in a poor contest, we return to Sweet Auburn as the answer.
