Gone Too Far can beat Spectrometer in the opener, with Seasquill best of the rest. Gone Too Far has already been successful twice here, both over hurdles and fences, his most recent victory coming over the bigger obstacles in June. After a poor effort subsequently at Perth, Peter Monteith's charge bounced back with a win on the Flat at Ayr last time, so is obviously in good nick, and can make up for his Perth lapse now. He went up to mark of 127 after his last win here, so was forced to turn out on the level according to his trainer. He has to run him somewhere, and has found a suitable opportunity today, with only Spectrometer to beat on paper. The latter went down close home at Market Rasen last time, but that was over half a mile further, so he should fare better now, without being quite good enough to beat the selection. Of the rest, Seasquill is going the right way but probably needs further, and so Gone Too Far is the one to beat.
