In depth

Verdict

Second twice in Ireland last season before a third at Kelso in April, John MCConnell’s Jimmy Chou Pecos AA sets the standard in this rated 125 but there are a few rivals who look more than capable of giving the seven-year-old a run for his money. CLOVIS ISLAND (NAP) was well backed in a bumper here in March and the former pointer won as he liked. On that evidence, Nicky Richards’ charge could have a bright future. Mumford's Magic was third over course and distance after filling the same place at Warwick while Tommy Johnson gave supporters of the odds-on Mellificent a fright at Carlisle when making his racecourse debut. Great Pepper won twice in points but may be more of a chasing type.
