Verdict

SEEKING POWER gets the nod despite top-weight. Although he signed off in April by failing to complete at Carlisle, his previous form at Kelso and Newcastle reads very well in the context of this race. His record fresh isn't great (limited evidence to work with) but this stout-stayer is fancied to pick up his rivals late on. Matmata De Tendron has a run under his belt this season and he should improve on that, so with the ground no problem he is one to respect. Reckless Venture is a course winner and he didn't run his race at the track last time when well-fancied. If he can bounce back then he is considered, although he tends to find at least one too good. Appeal Denied was regressive over hurdles, whilst The Green Hat is fairly-treated at the bottom of the weights but his form in the summer was patchy at best.
