In depth

Verdict

Chef D'oeuvre had been showing decent form prior to winning a war of attrition over this course and distance at the start of February. He made far too many mistakes when upped in grade at Ascot last time and was a tired horse when falling but should find this easier. SIR IVAN only won once over hurdles but achieved a rating of 138. He’s been making steady-if-unspectacular progress over fences and this may be his chance to shine. Shelford was also useful over timber, winning a Grade 3, and he made a winning start over the larger obstacles at Towcester, though didn’t have much to beat and has picked up a penalty.
