Verdict

Daraybad is on a retrieval mission and can prove up to the task under Tony McCoy, with Cottingham, Magical Legend, Widely Accepted and Seribase all expected to play their part in an open contest. Daraybad was sent off as favourite at Huntingdon a fortnight ago, but that first run in 203-days in all probability counted against him, and he had to give best to Sunisa. That was not the first time that the French import has cost his supporters, but he was useful on the Flat, and the ability is definitely there, so off what looks an attractive weight he has to be fancied to break his duck. Cottingham was successful four times on the level this summer, and since going hurdling has had the misfortune to find one too good on each of his three outings. He gets weight from all here and it would be no surprise to see Richard Lee's charge go close. Magical Legend is a game mare judged on her latest efforts against useful opponents, so is yet another to consider for the frame at least, and Widely Accepted lost no caste in defeat at Newbury when chasing home the highly-regarded Manhattan Boy. The latter is a stablemate of Seribase, a winner over hurdles in the French provinces, and who is having his first run since April. He could turn out to be useful in time, but on this occasion it is Daraybad that is fancied to land the day's feature event at the track.
