In depth

Verdict

The short list for the seller contains Soviet Sceptre, Screen Test and Mezereon, with the vote going to Soviet Sceptre. City Of Manchester appeared not to last home over a longer trip here last time in a similar event. With this being his level, back in trip he can go well. Airgusta was behind him at Market Rasen in April but can be rated closer to him based on Towcester form when they were both behind Lyon - although that came over that longer trip. However, Soviet Sceptre was ahead of the pair of them that day and can go well at this lowly level. Fontwell winner Screen Test is a big danger as he drops to this grade for the first time. The booking of Mick Fitzgerald for Olivino following just one non-selling run, can be taken as a positive, while a repeat of his second in a similar event at Fakenham two runs ago would give Mezereon a good chance. Finally, Tanning is another to give some thought to as she is better than most of these on the Flat and quickly drops to selling company after just one hurdling run, in which she showed some promise, but first-time headgear will need to rev-up Lara's Girl if she is to play a meaningful part today. We return to the selection, then, which is Soviet Sceptre.
