A big field goes to post for this handicap and from a shortlist of Lipocco, Timber Treasure and Somnus we will side with LIPOCCO. The selection has been running with credit in some pretty hot races, and although he has the burden of top weight here, the fitting of cheek-pieces might just sharpen him up and he could still be good enough to get his head in front on ground that suits. Timber Treaure is a course and distance winner and he score impressively over 5f at Beverley last time when he beat Steelcut. This is more competitive though so he will need to find some improvement if he is to win this. Somnus is a consistent type but he doesn't win as often as he should and his losing streak now stretches back over two years. Barney McGrew was well beaten in a similar race to this at Ripon last time so he looks opposable, while Everymanforhimself likes to be produced from off the pace so expect him to be doing his best work at the finish. Lipocco looks the percentage call and he is forwarded as the pick.
