A competitive renewal of the Tommy Whittle chase in which Rambling Minster, Aleron and Lampion du Bost are shortlisted with the vote going to the last named. The selection is bidding for his hat-trick after wins at Aintree and Ayr and running off a career high he is improving with age. He jumps and stays well and is a horse with the right attitude so therefore is one to stay on the right side of. Rambling Minster will find life tougher with nine pounds more to carry since winning at Kelso last time out. This looks a tougher race too and being a horse that can throw in the odd poor race he is not easily relied upon. Aleron on the other hand is tough and consistent but whether he is still good enough to land a valuable race like this remains to be seen. So for the winner we return to Lampion du Bost to land his hat-trick.
