Major Magpie has shaped well enough on his two outings this season and is taken to win this at the expense of Lord Theo and Ansells Pride. The selection was good enough to win off a mark of 77 last April and has not been discredited in finishing third on his last two outings. Each time he has been close at the finish and this being a true galloping track it should suit. Lord Theo was out classed at Ascot before showing more at Yarmouth earlier in the month. He can run well again but he could be handicapped to his best at the moment. Ansells Pride was never dangerous at Beverly last time out when sent off favourite. Prior to that he was seen in winning form at Musselburgh for which he was raised eight pounds so it does remain to be seen as to whether or not he unfairly handicapped. So for the winner we return to Major Magpie.
