Lightly-raced for a six-year-old Bourgeois is taken to land this trappy looking handicap for his in-form connections. A winner of a decent handicap at York last summer, the gelding then struggled on unsuitable ground and as a consequence looks fairly weighted now. The step up in trip should be what he needs and looking the stable first choice has a fine chance of scoring here. Knavesmire Omen who is seeking a hat-trick will obviously be popular with punters but he needed a couple of runs to be seen at his best last season and his trainer is not in great form at present. The selection's stablemate Timing is not without a chance having shown his liking for fast ground in the past but it looks as though the handicapper has his measure at present although a useful claimer does take a few pounds off his back. Stance is worthy of a mention dropping down in class. He was not disgraced in races last season at Newmarket, York and Doncaster and back on his favoured fast ground coupled with his fall down the handicap he could represent each-way value.
