Fast Track was a little unlucky in running at Newmarket last time and while it's a surprise that he steps up to a sixth furlong, any positivity in the betting should be noted. Course form can count for plenty at Haydock and RED PIKE is taken to bounce back to form. Bryan Smart's gelding was a little disappointing over seven furlongs at Newmarket but he took a classified stakes here in May with something in hand and he is clearly useful. Captain Myles has missed a couple of recent engagements so Tim Pitt's Nottingham winner would be of interest if lining up here. Double Up makes a first foray into handicaps and the market should tell us whether the handicapper's initial assessment is fair. Andrew Balding's team continue to run well and Southwell scorer Willy Brennan won't be far away if the rain arrives.
