      Verdict

      BILLY ROBERTS was given plenty of ground to make up in an amateurs' race at Pontefract and is better judged on an earlier second at Beverley. He gets another chance in this. Dogged has returned a beaten favourite the last twice having found one too good on slower ground here while Virgo hasn’t raced since January but doesn’t look badly treated. Persuasive Powers returns to a longer trip and may do better as a consequence.
