        Verdict

        Just eight runners in our finale but a very trappy contest, so our cautious selection here is Magic Combination, with Smart John and Northern Nymph put forward as the main dangers. Len Lungo's gelding steps down a couple of furlongs after just being nailed by Lucky Judge at Redcar last week. He looked all over the winner at this distance and has a great chance to gain compensation this afternoon. Smart John will be a tough nut to crack, he returns here following an emphatic victory over stable companion Merrymaker over a mile and half, the only worry is that he is trying this trip for the first time. Northern Nymph ran a blinder over course and distance earlier this month when finishing a close up fourth behind Dr Sharp and will no doubt run his race again. Bushido is the dark horse in the field, he hasn't raced on the flat for almost two years, but comes here on the back of a Wetherby hurdles success. So a race full of if's and but's and so Magic Combination is a tentative choice.
