Paul Midgley has some top sprinters in his yard and two of them run here. The veteran Monsieur Joe is always capable of a big run at this level though FINAL VENTURE (NAP) looks the more likely winner. The five-year-old had a tremendous winter in Dubai, winning two lucrative handicaps, and returned to action with a fine effort in the Group 2 Temple Stakes here last month. Ornate has only won once but has mainly competed at a high level and should go well while the progressive Kyllang Rock only just failed to hold on at York when the ground was on the soft side. Henry De Bromhead has very few runners on the Flat and must have targeted this with the very lightly-raced Gorane, who has been showing terrific pace over 6f in Ireland.
Canny Kool 12-1 (9-4) Slowly into stride, soon in touch on inside, headway chasing leaders over 1f out, 3rd and one pace inside final furlong, 3rd of 9, 4 3/4l behind Judicial (9-8) at Chester 5f stks (3) gd in May.
Final Venture 20-1 (9-4) Prominent, every chance well over 1f out, weakened closing stages, 4th of 12, 2 1/4l behind Priceless (9-1) at Haydock 5f Grp 2 stks (1) fm in May.
Monsieur Joe (IRE) 14-1 (9-5) Prominent on stands' side, pushed along halfway and dropped towards rear 1 1/2f out, no impression and kept on one pace, 7th of 9, 4 3/4l behind Acapulco (9-0) at Curragh 5f lst stks (1) gd in May.
Ornate 12-1 (9-3) Prominent, ridden 2f out, kept on one pace, 6th of 15, 2 3/4l behind Marsha (9-7) at Newmarket 5f Grp 3 stks (1) gf in May.
Soie D'leau 10-1 (9-1) Prominent, ridden inside final 2f, kept on same pace, no impression when not much room inside final furlong, 5th of 18, 2 1/2l behind Copper Knight (8-6) at York 5f hcp (2) gd in May.
Glenrowan Rose (IRE) 14-1 (9-2) Mid-division, headway on inside over 1f out, weakened final furlong, 9th of 13, 9 3/4l behind Priceless (9-5) at Bath 5f lst fll stks (1) fm in Apr.
Kyllang Rock (IRE) 9-1 (9-2) Chased leaders, headway over 1f out, ridden to lead narrowly inside final furlong, kept on and headed post, 2nd of 5, hd behind Fashion Queen (8-11) at York 5f lst stks (1) gs in May.
Rosie Briar 33-1 (8-12) Raced near side, pulled hard, chased group leader until 2f out, weakened quickly, soon behind, last of 10, 19 1/4l behind Blue Point (9-1) at Ascot 6f Grp 3 stks (1) gf in May.
Gorane (IRE) 14-1 (9-0) Edged slightly left start and bumped rival, led, pushed along 2f out, pressed over 1f out, soon headed and no extra, one pace, 4th of 7, 6 1/2l behind Caravaggio (9-6) at Naas 6f Grp 3 stks (1) Good - Yielding in May.
