Sir Maximilian is entitled to maximum respect despite the combination of advancing years and topweight but ADMIRALTY is preferred. The Mount Nelson gelding scored on his first start for the Fell team since leaving Johnny Murtagh in Ireland and looks just the sort his yard excel with. He did well to oblige the last day after a break of nearly 200 days and a 3lb rise for the victory is acceptable. Growl is maybe not the force of old but showed definite spark when a close-up fourth at Ripon and still looks nicely treated off a mark of 92. Plenty of others enter calculations in an open contest with Dark Defender and Camacho Chief seen as best of the rest.
